Many of his predictions have been interpreted as being accurate, such as the rise of Adolf Hitler, World War II, the September 11 terrorist attack, the French Revolution and the atomic bomb .

According to believers, Nostradamus also appeared to have predicted the start of the coronavirus pandemic of 2020.

And Yearly-Horoscope claims more than 70 per cent of his prophecies have been fulfilled so far.

The French astrologer, who was born Michel de Nostradame, died on July 2, 1566.

But his cryptic predictions continue to be raked over in a bid to glean what the future holds.

Here’s what Nostradamus believers have interpreted concerning 2023.

Worryingly Nostradamus writes: “Seven months the Great War, people dead of evil-doing.”

This has been seen as predicting that a larger World War 3 conflict could stem from the war in Ukraine.

Or it could refer to the ongoing conflict between China and Taiwan which threatens to drag the United States into a terrifying nuclear war.

The French city of Rouen bizarrely appears to escape the Armageddon in the scary prediction.

“Rouen, Evreux shall not fall to the King,” wrote Nostradamus.

Looking out into our Galaxy, the French mystic cryptically refers to a “light on Mars falling”.

These words could be explained as the planet appearing to move backward in the sky, say believers.

Or it suggests that humanity could be on the verge of a major breakthrough when it comes to colonising the Red Planet.

Elon Musk has made no secret of his desire to send humans to Mars and has suggested humans will land there by 2029.

So maybe the billionaire has something up his sleeve for 2023.

Among the predictions made by Nostradamus for the coming year is a new Pope to succeed Francis.

According to the soothsayer, Pope Francis will be the last true Pope and the pontiff who takes his place will create a scandal.

“In the final persecution of the Holy Roman Church, there will be Peter the Roman, who will feed his flock amid many tribulations, after which the seven hilled city will be destroyed and the dreadful Judge will judge the people.

“The End.”

The far out Frenchman predicted a “Celestial fire on the Royal edifice”.

The prediction has been interpreted as suggesting that from the ashes of civilisation a new world order will emerge.

Others believe this could refer to the “end of times” or the start of a new world order.

Intriguingly, Nostradamus talks about the new alliance of two great powers coming together.

In his writings, he says this new alignment will be between a strong man and a weak one or even a male and a female leader.

The alliance seems to work despite itself but sadly, its good effects will not be long lasting.
