“We will support Ukraine as much as necessary” – G7 leaders on “referendums”

G-7 leaders on Friday issued a statement condemning Russia’s pseudo-referendums in the temporarily occupied territories and pledging continued support for Ukraine.

It is reported by “European truth” with reference to the text of the statement.

G7 leaders note that Russia is trying to use sham referendums to “create a false pretext for changing the status of Ukrainian sovereign territory, which is the object of ongoing Russian aggression.”

“These actions are in clear violation of the Charter of the United Nations and international law and are diametrically opposed to the rule of law in relations between states… We will never recognize these referendums, which look like a step towards Russian annexation, and we will never recognize an attempted annexation if it take place,” the statement said.

The heads of state of the G7 also condemned the nuclear rhetoric and announcements of partial mobilization in Russia.

“We stand ready to impose further economic sanctions on Russia, as well as on individuals and entities – both in Russia and outside it – who provide political or economic support to Russia’s illegal attempts to change the status of Ukrainian territory,” they said in a statement.
