A suspected gunman has been shot dead by police after he burst out of a home brandishing a weapon during a siege.
Police declared an emergency declaration for Ernest and Woodword Street in One Mile, Ipswich, in southeast Queensland, about 12pm on Sunday.
Officers negotiated with the gunman during the ‘siege situation’ before he left the property holding a firearm and ‘lunged’ at police.

Locals reported hearing multiple gunshots and seeing police running through a nearby park.
‘From what we could see, he lunged at them, police fired and then the paramedics came up,’ a bystander told the Courier Mail.
‘This is definitely a first. We’ve just been told to stay inside.’
Police issued an exclusion zone from Old Toowoomba Road to Siemona, Oakhill and Ernest Street, with residents urged to stay indoors.
A crime scene was declared at Ernest Street about 1.10pm and the emergency declaration revoked just after 2pm.
Public access to the scene remains restricted as police investigate.
