Rebekah Vardy used the anniversary of Coleen Rooney’s sister’s death as an excuse to contact her again, it was alleged during the Wagatha Christie libel trial today.

Coleen unfollowed Rebekah in January 2019 after a story about her car accident in the US was leaked to the media, leading her to suspect she was the “snake in the grass” responsible.

In text messages between Rebekah and her agent Caroline Watt, Rebekah said she would like to get in touch with Coleen and suggested “saying something about” her sister Rosie, who died in 2013 at age 14 after a lifelong battle with her husband. a rare brain disorder.

Today Coleen’s attorney David Sherborne told Rebecca that she was going to use Rooney’s sister’s “birthday” as “the pin” to message her.

Rebekah said, “That’s misinterpreted.”

At the event, Ms Watt suggested doing things differently, saying she had recently been on Loose Women and the program’s booker asked if Coleen would like to appear on the show.

Rebekah entered the witness box for the third time today on what was expected to be the last day of her evidence.

In a viral social media post in October 2019, Coleen, 36, said she had “sting surgery” and accused Rebekah, 40, of leaking “false stories” about her private life to the press.

Rebekah, who is married to Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy, has denied any stories leaked to the media and is suing her fellow footballer’s wife for defamation, while Coleen defends the claim on the basis that her post is ‘substantially true’ used to be.

Today’s trial had to be adjourned for 10 minutes after Rebekah burst into tears while being questioned by Mr Sherborne.

It happened moments after the lawyer was disbarred by the judge for constantly making “unnecessary” comments.

Discussing a fake message from Coleen Rooney about gender selection, Rebekah said she hadn’t been to Mexico for treatment after Sherborne accidentally used her name instead of Coleen’s.

After her answer, Mr. Sherborne said sharply, “Is that your best point, Mrs. Vardy?”

Her attorney Hugh Tomlinson, QC, stood up to intervene and said Mr Sherborne was “constantly commenting and making remarks against the witness”.

It led the judge to say, “It’s unnecessary and there isn’t really time for those comments anyway.”
